With the commencement of the penultimate ninth round of the 2016 MTTC Winter Pennant competition, we will get an opportunity to see the players give everything they have to ensure that their teams have a chance of making the Finals Series, which will commence after the conclusion of Round 10 of the regular season.
In Division 1, leading player Shahram and his partner Terry of the Orcas will take on Christopher and Hiep of the Sea Lions in a must-win clash, which will determine the teams that will qualify for the Grand Final to be held on August 4th. This match proves to be the pick of the round and will see elite spin masters Shahram and Christopher clash in what will surely be an unmissable spectacle. Be sure to expect fireworks in these rubbers, but be aware that the true test will lie within the doubles, which will ensure victory for one of these titanic teams.
High quality Table Tennis will also be on display when the rising stars George and Farshad of the Otters take on the experienced Leopard Seals team of Fabian and Mahmoud. The Leopard Seals have hotly contested all of their matches this season, but have been unlucky and seek to obtain their first victory against the Otters. The key to victory for this match lies within the doubles rubber where both teams have shown great prowess in their previous contests.
The ladder-leading Dolphins will be carefully watching their opponents compete within Division 1 and awaiting their final match against the Orcas in Round 10, which is crucial to determine who will be competing in the Grand Final.
In Division 2, the Jaguars will face off against the Panthers, whilst the Lions take on the Leopards and the Pumas challenge the Tigers.
The ladder leading Lions will seek to continue their unbeaten run when they take on Shaine and Warren of the Leopards, who desperately need a win to ensure their place within the upcoming Finals Series. The Jaguars will seek to resurrect their season with an upset victory against the Panthers, whilst the clash between the Pumas and Leopards will determine the final composition of the ladder and the order of the matches in the Finals Series.
Practice tables will also be available on this night, to enable visitors and fans to get a taste for the competition. So this Thursday evening be sure not to miss out on all of this action and much, much more at Donburn Primary School!
